Advance Threat Detection

First Responders

A backpack left on a crowded street. A small bag left in the corner of a busy terminal. These are all areas where explosive devices have been found and ready to detonate and harm people. In today’s law enforcement environment, First Responders are more sensitive than ever to the possible existence of explosive devices.

X-Ray Scanning Rover Fact Sheet

“Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) pose a great danger to the bomb technicians charged with disarming them. To counter this threat, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate’s (S&T) First Responders Group (FRG) is developing and testing equally sophisticated diagnostic tools so responders can quickly determine whether suspicious objects contain explosives without putting their own (and bystanders’) lives at risk.
